Coladas de San Juan

The San Juan lava flows are the result of the second last terrestrial volcanic eruption in Spain, which took place in 1949. In its course through the neighbourhood of Las Manchas, it is possible to enjoy several beautiful 3-hour-long loop trails of 10 kilometres in length, ending at the Asset of Cultural Interest of San Nicolás de Bari.

Nearby is the Cueva de las Palomas cave, a spectacular volcanic tube of more than 500 metres in length. We recommend taking the guided tour and making a stop at its modern visitor’s centre where you can learn all about the details of this volcano.
